Detecting Danger

In rare cases, a dangerous collection of blood (hematoma) may form on the brain after a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or body that may squeeze the brain against the skull.

Signs and symptoms of TBI generally show up soon after the injury. However, it may not be readily apparent how serious the injury is at first and some symptoms may not show up for hours or days. For example, in the first few minutes a person might be a little confused or a bit dazed, but an hour later they may not be able to remember how they even got hurt.

The Trauma Aware™ mobile app allows you to periodically conduct cognitive tests to detect any potential degradation over time. Remember, at any time if there are even the slightest signs of a concussion, or you are unsure, you should consult a doctor or go to the hospital emergency room.

In rare cases, a dangerous collection of blood (hematoma) may form on the brain after a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or body that may squeeze the brain against the skull. Call 9-1-1 or other emergency health center right away if he or she has one or more of the following danger signs after a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or body:

Dangerous Signs & Symptoms of a Concussion

  • One pupil larger than the other.
  • Drowsiness or inability to wake up.
  • A headache that gets worse and does not go away.
  • Slurred speech, weakness, numbness, or decreased coordination.
  • Repeated vomiting or nausea, convulsions or seizures (shaking or twitching).
  • Unusual behavior, increased confusion, restlessness, or agitation.
  • Loss of consciousness (passed out/knocked out). Even a brief loss of consciousness should be taken seriously.

How Trauma Aware™ Works:

By incorporating microelectronics and neuropsychology testing, Trauma Aware™ provides the only solution that measures physical impact to the body and brain and the cognitive mental processes that could be affected by this impact. The result is the real-time identification of physical impact trauma and quantifiable measurement of the potential for reduced mental capacities and organ damage.
